Miss Ko
Miss Ko is a Taiwanese-American rapper, singer, and songwriter that uniquely blends English and Chinese together. Her debut album "Knock Out" topped music charts in Taiwan and won her Best New Artist at the 24th Annual Golden Melody Awards, making her the first female rap artist to ever achieve the prestigious award. Ko has since released her sophomore album, XXXIII (33) and collaborated with major acts such as MC Hot Dog, Khalil Fong, Crowd Lu and A-mei. ==Personal life==
Ko was born and raised in Queens, New York and attended Brooklyn Technical High School, where she began writing lyrics and rapping. Successively, she graduated from Five Towns College as valedictorian with a Bachelor in Music Business. In 2010, she moved to Taiwan to study Mandarin at National Taiwan Normal University. While enrolled there, she entered a songwriting contest in which her teacher uploaded her song onto YouTube. After several record deal offers, she signed with Kao Inc Records. However, on November 1, 2011, Ko was involved in a near fatal accident in which she broke her jaw and halted all recording for several months. During that time, she finished writing "Knock Out" and attributes her success to the experience. Ko lists Lauryn Hill, Tupac, and A Tribe Called Quest as her musical inspirations.
